Welcome to the College of Matrons
Providing safe, affordable almshouse accommodation for women since 1683.
The College of Matrons provides secure, affordable almshouse accommodation in Salisbury and Wilton for women from across our area of benefit in the South West of England.
We offer independent living within a supportive community, helping residents enjoy security, dignity and companionship while maintaining their independence.
Although our history stretches back to the seventeenth century, our purpose remains as relevant today as it was at our foundation: providing good-quality homes for those who would benefit from the stability and community that almshouse living can offer.
The College currently provides accommodation for 27 residents and is a registered charity and member of the Almshouse Association.
Whether you are interested in applying for accommodation, learning more about almshouse living, exploring our history or supporting our work, we hope you enjoy exploring our website.
